Wikipedia: Chebarkul is a town in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia, located on the shores of Chebarkul Lake 78 km west of Chelyabinsk at 54°58′39″N 60°22′19″E / 54.9775°N 60.3719°E / 54.9775; 60.3719. Population: 45,700 (2005); 47,144; 50,062. Founded in 1736 as a fortress on the border between Russian and Bashkir lands, it later grew into a large Cossack stanitsa.
