Wikipedia: The University of Peradeniya is the oldest university of Sri Lanka and a renowned state university, funded by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka. It was established as the University of Ceylon in 1942. It hosts 8 faculties and teaches to about 10,000 students, in fields such as medicine, agriculture, the Arts, Science, Engineering and animal medicine.
