Wikipedia: Carpathian Ruthenia, Transcarpathian Ruthenia, Transcarpathian Ukraine, Zakarpattia, Rusinko, Subcarpathian Rus, Subcarpathia is a small region in Central Europe, now mostly in western Ukraine's Zakarpattia Oblast, easternmost Slovakia, Poland's Lemkovyna and Romanian Maramureş. In ethnic diversity, it is inhabited by Ukrainian, Rusyn, Lemko (who are of southern Polish) origin, Hungarian, Slovak, Romanian, Bulgarian and Russian populations. It has small Bogomil, Hutsul, Jewish, Romani and Zekler or Csango (ethnic Magyars in an Orthodox church) minorities.
