Wikipedia: Alistair Maclean Darling (born 28 November 1953) is a British Labour politician, who has been the Member of Parliament for Edinburgh South West since 1987, and was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer on 28 June 2007. Prior to this, he held a number of Cabinet positions, being one of only three people to have served in Cabinet continuously since Labour was elected in 1997.
