Wikipedia: Baybayin (ᜊᜌ᜔ᜊᜌᜒᜈ᜔) or the Tagalog script (ᜆᜄᜎᜓᜄ᜔) (as it is known in Unicode), is a pre-Spanish Philippine writing system which is an offshoot of the Kawi script that originated from the island of Java. Kawi was also used in the Philippines on official documents such as the Laguna Copperplate Inscription. The writing system is a member of the Brahmic family and is believed to have been in use as early as the 14th century.
