Wikipedia: The Porto Metro, part of the mass transit public transport system of Porto, Portugal, is a light-rail network of electrified railways that run underground in central Porto and above ground into the city's suburbs. The Porto Metro was founded in 2002, and it was for years one of the major construction sites in the European Union. The network has 5 independent lines and reaches six municipalities within the metropolitan Porto area: Porto, Maia, Matosinhos, Póvoa de Varzim, Vila do Conde and Vila Nova de Gaia.
