Wikipedia: The Social Democratic Party is a liberal conservative and Christian-democratic political party in Portugal. It is commonly known by its initials, PSD, however on voting ballots its acronym appears as PPD/PSD, the first three letters coming from the party's initial name, Partido Popular Democrático (Democratic People's Party). The party has 81 of the 230 seats in the Assembly of the Republic, and has lost the most recent Portuguese legislative election.
