Wikipedia: The Velvet Revolution or Gentle Revolution (November 17 – December 29, 1989) was a non-violent revolution in Czechoslovakia that saw the overthrow of the authoritarian government. It is seen as one of the most important parts of the Revolutions of 1989. On November 17 1989, a Friday, riot police suppressed a peaceful student demonstration in Prague.
