Wikipedia: Sukhumi is the capital of Abkhazia, a disputed region on the Black Sea coast, which has been recognized as an independent state by Russia, Venezuela and Nicaragua, and is regarded by all other UN member states as an autonomous republic within Georgia. Georgia considers the territory to be under Russian military occupation The city suffered heavily during the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict in the early 1990s.
